Introduction

Drishti Samajik Sansthan was started in the year 1990 by our founder Neeta Bahadur.

Since then we have accomplished the near-impossible task of making more than 4000+ visually-impaired, hearing and speech-impaired,mentally and physically-challenged, and multiple-disability-affected children stand on their own feet and lead an almost independent life.

Our Initiatives

We currently have two initiatives.

Our first initiative is our Special School in which about 300 children having different levels of disability from 60 villages in the Bakshi Ka Talab and Chinhat blocks of Lucknow District.
Drishti is running this school by its own resources and without any Government assistance.

Our second initiative is a Training and Shelter Home where more than 200 orphaned children having mental and multiple disability live and get education and vocational training. These children are mostly those found abandoned in garbage bins, platforms, footpaths, roads, trains etc.

Since they are deprived of any kind of maternal affection or any other kind of help, they are brought to Drishti in a very pathetic condition, and it is only after continuous, 24X7 devoted care for months and years they turn only a little normal.

Our efforts

Raising Awareness

Extending the outreach of the Institution by providing transportation from all the villages (about 50 of present ) covered to the Institution premises and vice-versa, free of cost.

Getting them help

We take underprivileged children we learn about, under our wing. We help rehabilitate them and welcome them into our family. A lot of these children are from the streets, it takes time and extensive efforts to help them see that they are accepted here.

Education

Combining health related initiatives with formal education, skill development and vocational training.

Train them to live with their disabilities

Developing tools for motor skills development and improving cognition by cost- effective improvisations using in-house or local skills.

Vocational Training

Vocational training imparted in conformity with not just the recommendations of the experts but also the preference of the person concerned by giving him/her the freedom to test skills at various vocational streams.

Real world training

Use of team based approach beyond formal education  to better integrate the various category of students rather than Compartmentalized them on their disability.

Serve Food

Providing meals at the Institution to those students and trainees who cannot afford to bring their own lunch.
